Ensure Musculoskeletal Access for Medicare Patients

Medicare keeps cutting the physicians who keep Texas seniors moving. When practices can no longer afford to see Medicare patients, seniors wait longer, travel farther and lose access to the orthopaedic care they depend on.

Take Action

Two ways Texas patients and physicians can protect access to orthopaedic care. Each takes only a few minutes.

Congress

Fix the formula: support H.R. 9693, the Patients First Act

Every year Medicare raises hospital payments while physicians face another cut. Since 2000, Medicare physician payment has fallen more than 10% as the cost of running a practice climbed 71%.

  • See why the bipartisan Patients First Act would tie physician payment to inflation
  • Thank the Texas cosponsors or ask your member of Congress to sign on
  • Use talking points written for patients and for physicians

Stop the CY 2027 Physician Fee Schedule cuts

Medicare’s 2027 proposal would cut payment for hip, knee and shoulder replacements by up to 20% and pay half for a second service on the same day, forcing patients back for extra visits.
