Prescription Monitoring Program

Texas law requires prescribers to check the state’s prescription monitoring program (PMP) beginning on March 1, 2020, for prescriptions related to an opioid, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or carisoprodol.

Organized medicine worked with state lawmakers in the 2019 Texas Legislature to secure funding for physicians to embed the PMP into their EHRs through Appriss.
