Musculoskeletal injuries are among the most costly conditions suffered by Americans. For example, a December 2012 study on the Global Burden of Disease found that musculoskeletal injuries and conditions such as arthritis and back pain affect more than 1.7 billion people worldwide.

TOA works with patients, policymakers, and other segments of the health care industry to identify measures that can decrease the pain and suffering that patients experience from musculoskeletal issues.

 

Scoliosis Screening in Texas Schools

Major research released in 2013 found that scoliosis surgery could be avoided in certain circumstances if it was found at an early stage. As a result, Texas lawmakers Don Huffines and Tom Oliverson, MD passed 2017 legislation to ensure that Texas students can avoid the painful scoliosis surgery.  Click here for more.
